If you were in Chicago in 1970 you got caught up in the whirl of people demanding Civil Rights, an end to the endless war, positive social change, and recognition of human rights. Everyone from Women demanding parity with Men, to addressing the grievances of Gays, Blacks, Hispanics, American Indians, Working class Whites of both the Hip and Greaser persuasions and the list goes on. We began recognizing that we had a common struggle and needed to work together.
Fred Hampton started the Rainbow Coalition to join the struggles in 1969, but he was drugged by a police spy and assassinated while helpless in bed. That didn't stop PEOPLE POWER! The White Panther Party set up a chapter in Chicago to organize the Hippie or Freak Counterculture, and Rising Up Angry did the same for militant Greasers, who were nothing like Fonzie. The Revolution included sex, drugs, and Rock 'n Roll, but went way beyond that.
It was a magical time, and believe me, it ain't over yet!
